A Lifetime of Stitches, Sequins & Love

Hi, I'm Sue — the maker behind every single piece at Doll Clothes by Susie. I've been sewing for over 50 years, picking up my first needle and thread at the age of 14, and I haven't stopped since.

For the past 35 years, I've specialized in handmade doll clothes — spending 20 of those years selling at craft shows and 15 years on Etsy, where I built a loyal community of doll lovers who appreciate truly one-of-a-kind pieces. I also ran a professional alterations business for 25 years, so quality craftsmanship is in everything I make.

My work has taken me far beyond the sewing room. I created costumes for the off-Broadway production of The Marvelous Wonderettes in Chicago, and I've altered gowns for pageant competitors at the highest level — including Miss USA. Closer to home, I'm proud to have won the Best of Madison – Gold Award for my alterations business, and I've been nominated again this year!

What makes Doll Clothes by Susie different? My pieces are unique. I love working with sequins, feathers, and luxurious fabrics to create show-stopping gowns and outfits that you simply won't find anywhere else. Every item is made by hand, with care, by me.
